Composer's Note:

This short song is taken from A Cantata for a Summer's Day written in 1954 while the composer was a student in Paris. The poems of the Cantata describe a summer's day in all its moods, from pleasant sunshine to the memory of winter in the cool evening mist.

The original song of this work is a setting of a poem by Maurice Lindsay. It describes the orange tiger lily burning bright in the hot summer sun.

This arrangement by the composer is dedicated to Victoria Soames Samek.
